From inspiring one-on-one conversations to in-depth panel sessions, one theme resonated throughout: ISO 20022 is not a deadline, it’s a beginning. A shared challenge. And a real opportunity.
One highlight for us was the closing panel on the final day: “Are we ready for ISO 20022?” Our panelist Domenico Scaffidi brought an important voice to the discussion, pointing out that while ISO-native processing remains the goal, many small and mid-sized institutions still struggle with the complexity and resource demands of full adoption, particularly in light of parallel implementation pressures. Without clear value cases for corporates and the right tools to support them, we risk falling short of the format’s real promise.
As J.P. Morgan’s Justin Brearley-Smith noted during the session: “This is the first movie in a blockbuster franchise.” It’s not just about ticking a box, it’s the beginning of a long-term transformation.

He’s right: real-time value, better data, and smarter services won’t come from compliance alone. What’s needed now is execution, with the right testing strategy, automation, and end-to-end validation to support continuous change.
